HURT is calling for this year’s Derry Half Marathon participants to sign up to fundraise for the addiction support charity as it faces severe pressure to maintain essential services.

Sadie O Reilly founder of the charity based in Clarendon St Derry and Barrack St Strabane asks for the support of individuals and running clubs by considering HURT for your sponsorship this year and hope they can get more people to support them by raising sponsorship from friends, families and work colleagues when taking part in the event on Sunday 3rd September 2017.

In the past year HURT has supported 383 people in their centre who are seeking support for themselves or a loved one impacted by addiction. We provided information and awareness programmes for 360 young people and attended events to raise awareness for community groups families and with over 1800 participants.

HURT has lost over 60% of its funding and does not receive any government support and therefore relies heavily on its own fundraising efforts. We would be delighted if you would consider HURT to support in this year’s run.

There are a number of ways to fundraise for us –you can call into the office and pick up a sponsor form or you can click on the link www.mydonate.bt.com. Alternatively fundraisers can provide donations via paypal – just contact the office for our details.

Please remember, any amount, no matter how small, is very much appreciated and we will put it to good use to help keep this vital service running.”

All our services are FREE of charge and we would wish to continue to provide these essential services to family members and vulnerable people in the North West!
